Bangladesh achieved a historic milestone on June 28 as remittance inflows surpassed $30 billion for the fiscal year 2024-25, breaking all previous records.
According to Bangladesh Bank, expatriates sent a total of $30.04 billion in remittances from July 1, 2024, to June 28, 2025. This marks a significant increase from $23.28 billion in the previous fiscal year.
Remittance inflows grew by 26.5 percent during the current fiscal year.
In June alone, expatriates sent $2.53 billion, up from $2.37 billion during the same period last year. The $30 billion threshold was crossed with two days remaining in the fiscal year.
Earlier this month, Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur expressed satisfaction with the steady flow of remittances, attributing the growth to renewed trust in the country’s financial system.
In the first 11 months of the fiscal year (July 2024 to May 2025), remittances totalled $27.5 billion, consistently exceeding $2 billion each month except for July 2024.
Monthly remittance inflows during this period were as follows:
May: $2.97 billion
April: $2.75 billion
March: $3.29 billion
February: $2.53 billion
January: $2.19 billion
December: $2.64 billion
November: $2.2 billion
October: $2.39 billion
September: $2.4 billion
August: $2.22 billion
July: $1.91 billion
This record inflow of remittances is a strong boost to Bangladesh’s economy, reflecting the vital role of expatriate workers and their contributions.
