Bangladesh and Japan have discussed ways to deepen trade and investment ties, with a focus on attracting more Japanese investment to Bangladesh.

The issue came up during a meeting between Japan Institute for Overseas Investment (JOI) President Kenichiro Hayashi and Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali at the Bangladesh Embassy on 2 April.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on expanding economic engagement and strengthening bilateral investment cooperation. They also discussed closer collaboration between the Embassy and JOI to promote Bangladesh as a competitive and attractive destination for foreign investors.

They agreed to make use of JOI’s platforms and initiatives to boost engagement. The planned steps include co-hosting investment promotion seminars, sharing updates on Bangladesh’s economic progress through the JOI website, and publishing investment-related articles in JOI’s magazine.

Both sides expressed optimism that the initiatives would help strengthen investor confidence and further expand economic ties between the two countries.
