Youth arrested over gang-rape of college student
Police arrested a youth in connection with the gang-rape of a college student in the Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila airport area on Monday evening.
The arrestee was identified as Swaib Sarkar Sajib, 19 -- a resident of Ambari Airport area under Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila, reports UNB.
Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ershadul Alam said that Sajib developed a relationship with the girl two years ago, posing as a member of the air force.
On Saturday evening, Sajib called the girl to meet him in the airport area. After they met, he and his two friends raped her in a field next to the airport area.
Police rescued the girl after receiving a phone call from National Emergency Service 999 and admitted her to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital.
Sajib was arrested on Monday evening in a case filed by the victim's sister, the officer added.
