The death toll of militants in ongoing clearance operations across Balochistan has climbed to 197 as security forces pressed ahead with mop-up actions in Nushki district and other areas of the province.
The operations were launched following a series of coordinated militant attacks carried out across Balochistan on Saturday.
In Nushki, armed assailants targeted multiple government installations, including a police station, judicial complex, police lines, the deputy commissioner’s office and a Frontier Corps camp. Several government buildings were also set ablaze during the attacks.
Authorities said the town of Nushki has since been cleared, with bazaars reopening after a three-day shutdown. However, search operations are continuing in the surrounding mountainous areas to track down remaining suspects.
District police officials confirmed that at least four more militants were killed during recent clearance actions. They also acknowledged that the Counter Terrorism Department suffered casualties during the weekend attacks, though no official figures or identities of the fallen personnel were disclosed.
Reports also emerged of attacks in Awaran district, but no casualties were immediately reported there.
Meanwhile, security forces are continuing operations in the Washuk area, following attacks that included the burning of a police station and a Nadra office over the weekend.
Separately, Inspector General of Police Mohammad Tahir said the Balochistan police had made unparalleled sacrifices in restoring peace and protecting lives in the province. Paying tribute to officers and personnel who lost their lives, he stressed that lasting peace in Balochistan requires close cooperation between the public and security forces, adding that the police and people remain united against terrorism.
