
“Across all areas—information organization, knowledge preservation, information retrieval and use—the proper and positive application of AI-based technologies can make libraries more modern, efficient and user-friendly,” he said in a message issued on the occasion of the 70th anniversary celebration of the Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB), to be observed on December 12 and 13.
“I am happy to know that an international conference titled ‘LAB International Conference on Reimagining Librarianship: Forging the Future with AI Technologies’ will be organized on December 12 and 13, 2025 to mark the 70th anniversary of LAB,” the Chief Adviser added.
He said LAB has taken a relevant and timely initiative by bringing together the country’s library professionals along with international researchers and experts. “On this occasion, I congratulate all concerned,” he added.
The relentless role, played by the LAB in the development of the library and information science profession over the past seven decades, is truly commendable, Dr Yunus said.
He noted that it is vital to build an education system that is information-rich, technology-driven and humane to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
The Chief Adviser expressed hope that the conference would serve as an important milestone toward achieving this goal, reports BSS.
He wished the LAB-organized conference’s overall success.
