Inqilab Moncho on Friday staged a protest demanding justice for its slain spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi, drawing a large turnout of supporters in Dhaka.

The demonstrators brought out a procession from the central mosque area of Dhaka University after Jumma prayers. Chanting slogans such as “We want justice,” “Lal sobujer potakay, Hadi tomay dekha jay,” “Amra sobai Hadi hobo,” “Juge juge lore jabo,” “Tumi ke, Ami ke—Hadi, Hadi,” and “Delhi na Dhaka, Dhaka, Dhaka,” the protesters called for swift and impartial justice.

The demonstration came a day after a Dhaka court ordered further investigation into the murder case of Sharif Osman Hadi. The directive followed a naraji petition filed by the complainant, expressing dissatisfaction with the initial probe and seeking a fresh investigation.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order, instructing the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct the renewed inquiry and submit its report by January 20, according to prosecution officials.

Sharif Osman Hadi, who was also a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in the head on December 12 while travelling in a rickshaw on Culvert Road in Puratan Paltan.

He was later airlifted to Singapore for advanced medical treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on the night of December 18.

Protesters demanded that those responsible for the killing be identified and brought to justice without delay, warning that they would continue their movement until accountability is ensured.
