460 held across capital in 24 hrs crackdown

At least 460 people arrested in a 24-hour citywide operation and filed 49 criminal cases, according to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).


DMP said the arrests were made during routine operations across different police divisions in the capital. 

The largest number of arrests was recorded in Mirpur Division with 126, followed by Tejgaon (62), Wari (57), Motijheel (56), Uttara (47), Ramna (39), Gulshan (34), Lalbagh (33) and the Detective Branch (6).

Police also seized 12,084 yaba tablets, 120 grams of cannabis, and 100 bottles of Eskuf syrup along with Tk 4,800 in cash during the raids, reports BSS.

The suspects were arrested from different police station areas of Dhaka, primarily on allegations related to narcotics and other criminal offences, the DMP said.

Legal proceedings against those arrested are underway, police informed.
