Mosque imam thrashed handed over to police molesting child in Kalapara

Patuakhali: The public has detained and handed over to the police the Imam of Diyar Amkhola Para Jame Mosque, Bellal Hossain (28), on charges of sexually abusing a child studying in a Maktab in Kalapara, Patuakhali. On Saturday morning, the local people caught the lecherous imam red-handed and thrashed him.

According to local sources, the accused Imam Bellal had been engaging in anti-social and immoral activities by tempting and intimidating children who came to study in the Maktab for a long time. After learning about the matter from the victim children, the guardians and locals became angry. They had been waiting for quite some time to catch the Imam in such activities. Finally, he faced public anger after being caught red-handed on Saturday morning. The agitated crowd thrashed him and handed him over to the police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohipur Police Station Md. Shamim Howlader said that the victim's father, Shahadat Hossain, has filed a case with the police station as the plaintiff in this incident. The accused has been sent to Kalapara court. - Gofran Palash
