
The Election Commission (EC) has invited election officials from 26 countries, including Pakistan and India, to observe and assess the national elections scheduled for February 12.
In addition, seven international organisations have been invited to monitor the polls. The EC said it will cover all expenses for the visiting observers during their stay in Bangladesh.
A total of 93 high-ranking officials have received invitations, including chief election officials and senior representatives from Japan, South Korea, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Turkey, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, the Maldives, Thailand, Indonesia, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Invitations have also been extended to representatives of major international and regional bodies, including the SAARC Secretary General and Bangladesh’s ambassador to the organisation Md Golam Sarwar, Commonwealth Secretary General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, and OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, among others.
The EC said the initiative reflects its commitment to ensuring transparency, credibility, and international confidence in the upcoming national elections.
