3 held with 20,000 yaba tablets, medicines in Teknaf
The Coast Guard has arrested three drug traffickers in Teknaf with 20,000 yaba tablets and various medicines being carried for smuggling.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon disclosed the information this afternoon.
He said the Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted a drive in the Naityangpara area under Teknaf Police Station in Cox's Bazar early today based on a tip-off.
During the drive, the Coast Guard searched a suspicious residential house and arrested two Myanmar nationals along with 20,000 yaba tablets worth around Tk 1 crore and various types of medicines being carried for smuggling to Myanmar.
During preliminary interrogation, it was learnt that they had entered Bangladesh by swimming across the Naf River from Myanmar with the yaba consignment and were staying at the house.
Later, based on information provided by the arrested individuals, the Bangladeshi drug trafficker who owned the house was also arrested.
The process of taking further legal action against the seized yaba, medicines and arrested drug traffickers is underway, reports BSS.
