Dhaka, 30 December: The Freedom Fighters and Mujibnagar Officers and Employees express their deep sorrow at the demise of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji‘un), the wife of the martyred President of Bangladesh and Sector Commander, and proclaimer of independence, General Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam.
Under the chairmanship of the organization’s President, Mr. Mohammad Musa, a condolence meeting was held today in Dhaka, where this condolence resolution was unanimously adopted.
Three-time Prime Minister and an uncompromising guardian of democracy, Begum Khaleda Zia ignited an everlasting flame of hope in the hearts of millions of people of Bangladesh through her courageous and resolute leadership in the anti-autocracy and anti-fascist movements. As a key leader of mass movements, she repeatedly led the people of Bangladesh to the threshold of liberation. In the hearts of the democracy-loving and struggle-oriented people of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia emerged as the fearless beacon of youth and the guiding light of freedom.
She will remain eternally immortal in the hearts of the people of Bangladesh, and her name will be remembered with profound respect.
In her passing, along with the entire nation, the brave Freedom Fighter Officers and Employees of Bangladesh are deeply grief-stricken and mournful. We pray for eternal peace for her departed soul and humbly supplicate to Almighty Allah to grant her Jannatul Ferdous. – Press release
