Human chain in Kalapara urging justice for the murder Shahidul Islam

Patuakhali: A human chain and protest march were held in Kalapara, Patuakhali, demanding the prompt arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the murder of agriculturist Shahidul Islam. The program was organized on Sunday morning by students and people from all walks of life in Mahipur of the upazila.

Participants in the human chain displayed banners and placards with various slogans demanding justice for the murder.

Local Md. Faisal Gazi said that an innocent and honest agriculturist has been brutally killed, which is very sad and condemnable. They expressed their fear that the crime trend in the society will increase if a proper investigation and speedy trial of this incident is not ensured.

Md. Matiur Rahman, father of the deceased agriculturist Shahidul Islam, said, "My son was very honest, hardworking and innocent. He never harmed anyone. I cannot accept the brutal way he was killed today. As a father, I only want justice for my son's murder. Those involved in this murder should be arrested quickly and given exemplary punishment. I strongly demand from the administration and the government so that no other father loses his child in this way."

After the human chain, a protest procession circled the main road of Mahipur Fisheries Port and ended peacefully. Students from various educational institutions of Mahipur Police Station, local dignitaries and people from all walks of life participated in the program. - Gofran Palash
