A total of 26 fishing trawlers have allegedly been robbed in the Bay of Bengal near Kuakata in Patuakhali.



A total of 26 fishing trawlers have allegedly been robbed in the Bay of Bengal near Kuakata in Patuakhali.
A group of bandits sank a trawler named ‘FB Bhai Bhai’ with nine fishermen on board.
The incident took place in the Choibam area of the deep sea near Sona Char around 8:30 pm on Thursday (July 28).
A team is now trying to rescue the sunken trawler.
FB Bhai Bhai owner Md Shahin confirmed the news on Saturday morning.
Salam Mia of Nizampur village in Mahipur, the fisherman of the sunken ‘FB Bhai Bhai’ trawler, said, “A group of robbers consisting of 22 to 23 members attacked our trawler with various weapons. At that time, the robbers looted valuables including fish in the trawler and sank our trawler. Meanwhile, they robbed some other trawlers. Later, a trawler named ‘Ma Babar Doa’ rescued us. But before that, the robbers snatched away everything from that trawler too.”
Patuakhali Police Super Mohammad Shahidullah said, “We are looking into the matter.”
