College student killed, 3 others hurt in Jatrabari attack

A 20-year-old college student was killed and three members of a family were injured in an attack by a man following a dispute over unpaid debt money at Kazla in Jatrabari area of the capital early Tuesday.


The deceased was identified as Diya Akter, a student of Borhanuddin College and daughter of Nurullah while the injured were identified as Moushumi, 35, wife of Nurullah and his two children-- Moaz, 15 and Joya, 12.

The incident occurred at a house at Bhanga Press in Kazla area around 5 am.Billal Hossain, a relative of the victims, said Musa, a contractor by profession, provided some money to Nurullah as loan and they had an enmity over nonpayment of debt money for long.

Arpund 5 am, Musa entered into the house of Nurullah and had an altercation over the issue.

At one stage, Nurullah hit Musa with sharp weapons, leaving him injured.

Angered by the incident, Musa hit Moushumi with sharp weapon, leaving her injured. The wrist of Moushumi was severed during the attack.

Meanwhile, he also hit Diya and two other inmates of the house as they tried to save Moushumi, leaving them injured.

They were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared Diya dead.

Musa was also taken to the hospital under police custody, reports UNB.
