Subrota maintains solo lead

Dhaka, 15 April - FIDE Master Subrota Biswas of Dhaka University maintained his solo lead in the points table with five points after the fifth round of Pawn Power Round Robin Chess tournament held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room Wednesday.

Suvankar Roy of India followed the leader with 3.5 points.

Subhabrata Roy placed in third position with three points while Rayan Rashid 
Mugdho is in fourth position with 2.5 points.

In the day's fifth round matches, FM Subrota Biswas defeated Jinnat Akter 
Shahnaz. FM Subrota played with the white pieces against Jinnat's Caro-Kann 
Defense, Subrota secured victory after 56 moves.

Suvankar Maity defeated Abrar Reazul Ahnaf Mohammad. Suvankar used the Scotch 
Game system with the white pieces, and won the game against Abrar after 37 
moves.

Meanwhile, Rayan Rashid Mugdho split points with Shubhabrata Roy. Mugdho, 
playing black and employing the Semi-Slav Defense, held the game to a draw 
after 34 moves.

Candidate Master Avik Sarker beat Siam Chowdhury. CM Avik, played with white 
pieces in an Indian Game setup and won the match against Siam after 50 moves.

Shahinur Haque defeated India's Arman Siddiqui. Shahinur played with the 
black pieces and adopting the Sicilian Defense, Shahinur claimed victory 
after 43 moves.BSS
