China can help modernise BD's technical education: Milon
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon said quality technical and vocational education is crucial to turning Bangladesh's large young population into a skilled and productive workforce.
China can play an important role in modernising Bangladesh's technical education system, he said while addressing the "China-Bangladesh Technical Education Exchange" programme today at Guangdong Vocational City in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province, China.
The programme aimed to strengthen cooperation between Bangladesh and China in technical education, skills training, technology and industry-oriented education.
Milon called for greater bilateral cooperation in modern skills training, curriculum development, institutional partnerships and employment-focused education.
"Bangladesh is very interested in learning from China's success and experience in modern technical education reform," he said.
Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin said teacher and student exchanges, scholarships, curriculum development and institutional partnerships could further deepen educational ties between the two countries.
He said such cooperation would contribute sustainably to employment generation and skills development.
Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Md Daud Miah said Chinese institutions could help Bangladesh introduce advanced technologies and modern curricula into its technical education system, making it more responsive to the international labour market.
At the event, the "Chinese + Vocational Skills" Industry-Education Integration Alliance was formally launched as a new platform for language education, skills development and industry-education integration at the international level.
Representatives from Guangdong Vocational City and 11 technical and vocational colleges in the province attended the programme, organised by Guangdong Finance and Trade Vocational College.
Following the programme, the Bangladesh delegation visited the "Beidou+" Digital Supply Chain Laboratory, where they observed practical training activities involving robotics and other modern technologies, reports BSS.
