Two missing as trawler sinks after collision with launch at Sadarghat

Two people went missing after a trawler bound for Cumilla sank in the Buriganga River following a collision with a launch at Shyambazar Ghat in the capital's Sadarghat area on Sunday morning.


The trawler was hit by Sundarban-12 launch around 9:30am, according to Warehouse Inspector Anwarul Islam of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell, reports UNB.

A rescue unit from the Sadarghat River Fire Station reached the spot around 9:50am and launched a rescue operation, he said.

Two passengers remained missing till filing of this report at 12:20pm.
