The United States has launched airstrikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities, sharply escalating the conflict between Israel and Iran and triggering a wave of international condemnation and concern over global security.

Late Saturday, US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces had “obliterated” key Iranian nuclear sites in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz, warning of more strikes unless Iran agrees to “make peace” and abandon its nuclear enrichment activities.

In a brief statement, Iran acknowledged the attacks, saying that personnel at the affected sites were evacuated ahead of the bombings.

The strikes follow more than a week of open hostilities between Israel and Iran, including missile barrages and drone strikes, which have already resulted in hundreds of deaths and widespread damage on both sides.

Global Reactions:

Iran: ‘Everlasting consequences’

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the United States of violating international law, including the UN Charter and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

“These attacks are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences. The UN and all its members must act against this dangerous, lawless, and criminal behaviour,” Araghchi posted on social media.

He added that Iran reserves the right to respond “in full” to defend its sovereignty and people.

Israel: ‘A historic move’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised President Trump, calling the strikes a “bold decision” that would “change history.”

“President Trump acted to deny the world’s most dangerous regime access to the world’s most dangerous weapons,” Netanyahu said in a televised address.

United Nations: ‘A direct threat to peace’

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said he was “gravely alarmed” by the use of force and warned that the region was “on the edge.”

“This dangerous escalation threatens international peace and security. There is no military solution. The only hope is diplomacy.”

Guterres called on all countries to uphold their legal obligations and avoid a “spiral of chaos.”

Hamas: ‘Blind obedience to occupiers’

The Palestinian group Hamas condemned the US strikes as “brazen aggression” and a “clear violation of international law.”

“We stand in full solidarity with Iran, its leadership, and its people,” Hamas said, accusing the US of blindly serving Israel’s interests.

US Democrats: ‘Unilateral and reckless’

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries criticised the strikes, saying President Trump bypassed Congress and risked dragging America into another Middle East war.

“Donald Trump shoulders full responsibility for the consequences of this reckless military action.”

China: ‘Repeating the Iraq mistake’

Chinese state broadcaster CGTN questioned whether the US was repeating its 2003 Iraq invasion blunder.

“History shows that military interventions in the Middle East often lead to instability and prolonged conflict. Dialogue must come first.”

Australia & New Zealand: ‘Volatile situation’

The Australian government acknowledged the US rationale but urged restraint:

“We continue to call for de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy.”

New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters said the developments were “extremely worrying” and called for an urgent return to negotiations.

Mexico: ‘Dialogue is urgent’

Mexico’s Foreign Ministry reiterated its commitment to peace:

“We urge diplomatic dialogue and de-escalation to restore stability in the region.”

Venezuela: ‘Dangerous US aggression’

Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Yvan Gil condemned the strikes as a “serious violation of sovereignty” orchestrated at the request of Israel.

“We demand an immediate cessation of hostilities,” he said in a Telegram post.

Cuba & Chile: ‘Grave violation of UN Charter’

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned the US action as a “dangerous escalation” that risks triggering irreversible global consequences.

Chilean President Gabriel Boric labelled the attack illegal:

“Having power does not authorise a country to act above international law—even if you are the United States.”

Civil Society:

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called the strike “unjustified and illegal”, accusing the US of acting under pressure from Israel.

In contrast, AIPAC, the powerful pro-Israel lobby in Washington, praised Trump’s action and called for further US coordination with allies to counter Iranian threats.
