Dhaka may experience light rain or thundershowers on Sunday, but the weather is unlikely to bring significant relief from the ongoing heat, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The forecast, issued for Dhaka and its adjoining areas for the six hours from 7am on Sunday, said light rain or thundershowers may occur during the period.
The sky may remain partly cloudy to temporarily cloudy, while southerly to southwesterly winds may blow at a speed of 10–15 kilometres per hour.
The Met Office recorded a temperature of 27.4°C in Dhaka at 6am on Sunday, with relative humidity at 91%. The capital recorded a maximum temperature of 35.5°C on Saturday, while Sunday’s minimum temperature was 27.3°C.
Dhaka received 4mm of rainfall in the previous 24 hours.
Despite the possibility of rain, the department said the daytime temperature may remain largely unchanged, indicating that residents may continue to experience uncomfortable heat.
