Heavy rainfall on the coast due to high air pressure in North Bay

Heavy rainfall was experienced in coastal Patuakhali on Tuesday 28 April 2026.

Patuakhali: Due to the high air pressure in the North Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas, the Bay of Bengal adjacent to Kuakata in Patuakhali is somewhat turbulent. Heavy rainfall is occurring in various places on the coast since 12 noon on Tuesday. The air pressure has increased significantly. The water level of the rivers has increased slightly.

The Meteorological Office is concerned about gusty winds blowing at a speed of 45 to 60 kilometers over the Khulna, Barisal and Patuakhali regions. Therefore, the Meteorological Office has asked these ports to display local warning signal number 1 and all sea ports of the country including Payra to display local warning signal number 03. All fishing trawlers have been asked to move carefully near the coast.

President of Mahipur Matsa Arat Samabaya Samity UP Chairman Md. Fazlu Gazi said that all fishing trawlers have a safe place due to the ban on fishing in the sea.

Kalapara Upazila CPP Assistant Director Md. Asaduzzaman Asad said that it is raining heavily now, accompanied by lightning. He appealed to the public to stay safe by not talking on mobile phones. - Gofran Palash
