A Jubo Dal activist died of a heart attack during a rally marking the organisation’s 47th founding anniversary in Nakla upazila of Sherpur on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased was Badsha Mia (48), son of late Safar Uddin of Urfa Union under Nakla upazila. He was a farmer and father of two.

The incident occurred around 5:30 pm at Kachari Mor area of Nakla town, said former convener of Nakla upazila BNP Khorshedur Rahman.

He said Jubo Dal activists from different unions were marching toward Nakla Pilot High School ground to join the anniversary gathering when Badsha suddenly collapsed on the road after complaining of chest pain.

He was rushed to Nakla Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctor Dr. Maliha Nuzhat declared him dead. “He died after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest,” the doctor confirmed.

Leaders and activists of Nakla BNP and its affiliated organisations expressed deep sorrow over his death.

Enamul Haque Ripon, a local BNP leader and former general secretary of the upazila Chhatra Dal, said, “Badsha Mia was a dedicated activist of Urfa Union Jubo Dal and a follower of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman’s ideology. His death is an irreparable loss to Nakla Jubo Dal.”

Nakla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Habibur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying an unnatural death case has been recorded after completing the inquest, reports UNB.
