3 Dead, 18 Hospitalized After Drinking Toxic Liquor in Satkhira

Three people have died and 18 others have fallen sick after reportedly consuming toxic liquor on Eid day in Kadakati village, Ashashuni upazila, Satkhira district, on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Nazmul Hossain, 35, son of Farhad Gazi; Tuitu Khan, 38, son of Zafar Sardar; and Imran Hossain, 25, son of Kuddus Sardar, all residents of Tetulia village.

According to local reports, Noman Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ashashuni Police Station, stated that 15-20 friends gathered at Tetulia Bazar on Monday night and consumed the liquor. The group fell ill shortly after.

The affected individuals were rushed to Ashashuni Upazila Health Complex and Satkhira Medical College and Hospital, where three people succumbed to their condition on Wednesday morning. The health of seven to eight others remains critical. Authorities are investigating the source of the toxic liquor.
