Police recovered the body of an Indian student of Eastern Medical College in Cumilla from a pond on Wednesday, two days after he went missing from his hostel.

The deceased was identified as Adnan, a fifth-year student of the medical college and a resident of Jammu and Kashmir in India.

Officer-in-Charge of Burichang Police Station Lutfor Rahman said locals spotted a body in a pond near the college on Wednesday morning and informed police.

The OC said Adnan came to Bangladesh with his mother on October 31.

As he was inattentive to his studies his family brought him back to Bangladesh against his will, he said.

Following his disappearance, the college authorities and his mother filed a general diary (GD) with Burichang Police Station on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The cause of his death could not be known immediately.
