The deceased was identified as Abu Huraira Mim, 35, son of Mashiar Rahman of the area.
According to police and locals, Mim had been missing since Wednesday afternoon after leaving home.
Locals spotted his bloodstained body lying inside a bamboo grove by the Jashore-Benapole Highway near his house in the early hours and informed police.
Police recovered the body around 8:00am and sent it to Jashore General Hospital morgue autopsy, said Officer-in-Charge of Jhikargacha Police Station Golam Kibria Hasan.
The victim had deep wounds on the back of his head caused by a sharp weapon, he said.
Mim’s wife Nila Khatun said she had been staying at her father’s house in the same village. She last spoke to her husband around 8:30pm on Wednesday.
“Mim was supposed to come to my parents’ house that night, but he never arrived. We tried calling him several times afterwards, but he did not answer,” she said.
Nila alleged that her husband had disputes with several of his friends and claimed he was murdered in a planned way over those conflicts, reports UNB.
