4 workers die after inhaling ‘toxic gas’ in B’baria septic tank

Four workers died after inhaling “toxic gas” from a septic tank at Galania village in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Wednesday.


The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan, 18, son of Dulal Mia, Hridoy, 35, son of Nannu Mia, Imam Hossain, 35, son of Mosharraf Hossain of the village, and Arman, 21, son of Shukkur Mia of Dharanti village.

Manjur Quader, Officer-in-Charge of Sarail Police Station, said Hridoy and Mehedi first climbed down the septic tank under construction at the house of Ali Mia at noon and fell unconscious.

Getting no response from them for a long time, Imam and Arman also entered the septic tank only to fall unconscious too.

On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of four people around 5:pm, said deputy assistant director of Brahmanbaria Fire Service and Civil Defense, Md Faruk Ahmed, reports UNB.
