Police have recovered the body of a young man from under an electric pole on a road in the Boishakhi Swarani area of Middle Badda in the capital.

The body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College for autopsy on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Md. Zahirul Islam, 22, a resident of Nagergaon village under Katiadi Police Station in Kishoreganj district.

He was the son of Rafiqul Islam and lived in a rented house in North Badda.

Sub-Inspector Md. Mezhbah Uddin of Badda Police Station said police recovered the body early Saturday after receiving a call through the national emergency service.

“The body was found lying under an electric pole on the road in front of a house at 90/1, Boishakhi Swarani. After completing legal formalities, the body was sent for autopsy,” he said.

Quoting locals, the SI said the young man may have been electrocuted while attempting to cut electric wires from the pole, causing him to fall.

However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report, he added, noting that legal proceedings are underway, reports UNB.
