News Desk Transportation 2022-10-28, 7:57pm

The bus service has been halted in eight districts of Rangpur division due to a two-day transport strike.

The bus service has been halted in eight districts of Rangpur division due to a two-day transport strike called by Rangpur District Motor Owners Association.

No bus left the Bogura bus terminal on Friday (October 28) morning.

Aminul Islam, a transport sector leader, confirmed the matter.

About 150 buses leave Bogura for eight districts of Rangpur division everyday. Besides, about 400 buses from Dhaka and other parts of the country use Bogura roads to go to Rangpur division. But the bus service has been suspended from 6.00am on Friday, he said.

As they have called the strike, we did not send any bus there, he said.

Rangpur District Motor Owners' Association has called for the strike demanding ban on illegal vehicles on the highway.

However, the BNP claimed that the transport strike was announced to disrupt BNP’s mass rally.
