Dhaka, 4 Nov—The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to give women cricketers a significant pay rise under a new central contract.

The female cricketers will receive a 35 percent salary increase along with higher daily allowances and tour fees under a revised pay structure.

The new structure will be effective from July 2025 for one year.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) approved the new salary structure during its board of directors' meeting on Monday.

“Those who are in the contract will get 35 percent salary rise and it will be effective from July 2025,” BCB Media Committee Chairman Amzad Hossain said during a press conference after the meeting.

“In addition, the daily allowance was also increased. They will get 75 dollar from now on from 50 dollar. The tour fee is also increased to 50 dollar from 25 dollar,” she added.

Under the new system, the top-tier or ‘Grade A’ players will now receive a monthly salary of Tk 1.6 lakh from Tk 1.2 lakh, while the lowest ‘Grade D’ cricketers will earn Tk 80,000, an increase from Tk 60,000.

According to the list released by the BCB, three players—captain Nigar Sultana Joty, left-arm spinner Nahida Akter, and batter Sharmin Akter Supta—have been put in Grade A.

Grade B featured six cricketers, including Farzana Hoque Pinky, Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun, Marufa Akter, Rabeya Khan and Sobhana Mostary who will get Tk1.35 lakh per month.

Shorna Akter is the lone cricketer in Grade C, with a salary of Tk 95,000, while Grade D included Sumaiya Akter, Fariha Islam Trishna, Rubya Haider Jhelik, Sanjida Akter Meghla and Nishita Akter.

The national team captain will receive an extra Tk 30,000 per month, while the vice-captain will get Tk 20,000.

If a player outside the central contract is called up to the national team, she will be listed Category D player.
