Patuakhali: 'Mangal Sukh Model Government Primary School' is the beacon of modern primary education in Kalapara, Patuakhali. Spreading the message of the success of the current government's new education program, the school is successfully conducting pre-primary to primary level education programs. Educational programs are being conducted here with modern infrastructure and information technology-enabled materials.

Located in Kalapara Municipality, this school has pictures of heroes and martyred intellectuals of all historical events from 1952 to 1971 painted in front of it. Along with pictures of Meena-Raju cartoons that mobilized the students. In the pre-primary classroom of the school, children's sports equipment and overall subjects of education are seen painted on the walls. Clay materials are arranged in layers to provide education at all levels, including national flowers and fruits. There are various children's play equipment - slippers, swings, horses, elephants, lions, giraffes and various animals. It's like a children's children's park. In the first class, students' entire books were seen painted on the walls.

As soon as the national anthem and assembly bell rang in unison on the parade ground, the children rushed to their respective classrooms. As soon as the teacher entered the third class room, he was greeted in unison. After exchanging greetings, the teacher released multimedia beams on the white screen through the projector. A video of the topic 'Introduction to Technology' from Chapter 10 of the primary science book, controlled through a laptop, was released for everyone to watch. Then he turned off the multimedia beams and reviewed the details of the video. Then the students were asked to discuss the topics seen in the video in groups. Later, the teacher received answers to various questions from the students on the laptop. In this method, the educational program is being conducted excellently. Another teacher was teaching first grade students in the next room. He was teaching 'A for Apple, B for Ball' etc.

It is known that in unique recognition of advanced and modern teaching, the school has secured first place as the best school at the divisional level in 2024 and 2026. Currently, the primary school has also achieved significant success in implementing the government's Foundational Learning or FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) program.

A visit to the school shows that the students of the school are moving firmly towards achieving the desired skills in Bengali, English and Mathematics. This significant progress has been made in the students' FLN program in the last three years. Fifth grade students have reached the level of achieving 100% proficiency in Bengali. 95% progress is maintained in mathematics in all classes from third to fifth grade.

The on-site visit also shows that the teachers are following regular learning assessment, lesson-based activities and student-centered learning methods. As a result, positive development is taking place in reading, writing and numeracy skills among the students.

It is learned that in the first phase, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has specifically included three primary schools in the country to modernize the primary education program. Mangal Sukh Model Government Primary School in Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali, Bhangura Boalmari Government Primary School in Pabna and Uttar Dariapur Government Primary School in Kaliakoir area of Gazipur are among them. Modern and information technology is being used in teaching in the school.

Along with studies, the students of this school are creating unique records in sports and co-curricular activities. In 2023, the school achieved first and second positions in All Bangladesh and received 100% scholarship in 2022. It maintains first place in the upazila and district every year in sports competitions with great success. Recently, in 2026, this school in Kalapara achieved third place at the divisional level in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament at the divisional level, which is the first in the entire Patuakhali district. At the same time, there are pianos, harmoniums and other musical instruments and sports equipment for the entertainment of the students. In addition to studies, there are various types of books in the library set up in the school to increase the scope of general knowledge. There is a group of 'Cub Scouts' to instill an idealistic attitude in the children and students. The Cub Scouts of this school have shown unique success at the national and local levels. In the last ten years, they have won a total of 104 national level awards, including the Shapla Cub Award. In the last five years alone, 122 Shapla Cub Awards have been received in the primary school level competition. Head Teacher Nazmus Shakib Khan Kona said, 'The school was established in 1957. Later, it was recognized as a 'model school' in 2005. Currently, there are a total of 16 teachers working in the school including the head teacher. The number of students is 768, out of which 345 are boys and 423 are girls. The teachers of the school are working tirelessly to ensure basic learning. Due to regular evaluation and support from the parents, the students are making rapid progress.
