The Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) has unveiled a 24-point manifesto outlining its vision for a ‘New Bangladesh’ and the foundation of a Second Republic.

NCP Convenor Nahid Islam made the announcement during a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Sunday evening.

He said the party emerged from a collective desire to reshape the nation in line with the people’s aspirations and frustrations. “Exactly a year ago, we stood here and vowed to end autocracy. Today, we return with a roadmap—our 24-point vision for a Second Republic,” Nahid told the gathering.

The manifesto calls for adopting a new constitution and establishing the Second Republic. It demands justice for the July uprising and comprehensive reform of democratic institutions. The party advocates for legal reform to ensure fairness and a justice system based on equity.

It stresses the need for a service-oriented administration, strong anti-corruption measures, and people-friendly law enforcement agencies. Empowering local governance through village parliaments, strengthening independent media, and supporting civil society are also key priorities.

Universal healthcare and education policies aimed at nation-building are included, alongside a push for innovation and advancement in research and ICT. Respect for religious, ethnic, and community dignity is emphasized, as is women’s safety, rights, and empowerment.

The manifesto highlights a justice-driven economy, youth empowerment, and employment creation. It promotes diversified trade and industrialization, sustainable agriculture, and food sovereignty. Protection of workers’ and farmers’ rights and effective management of national resources are also outlined.

Urban planning, transportation, housing development, climate resilience, and protection of rivers and seas form part of the vision. The rights and dignity of expatriate Bangladeshis and a pro-Bangladesh foreign policy are included. Finally, the manifesto calls for a strong and strategic national defense.

Concluding the event, Nahid said, “With your support, we have overthrown fascist rule. Now, let’s unite to fulfil these 24 goals and build the Bangladesh of our dreams.”
