Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed on Sunday visited winter training areas under seven Padatik Division of Gopalganj and Khulna.
During his visit, the Army chief observed different tactical training activities as war time preparation and said Bangladesh Army is working national and international arena with a great reputation.
Bangladesh Army has been achieved the reputation through showing professionalism, he said, adding:"Winter training can help to enhance tactical skill side by professionalism."
Quarter Master General of BD Army Lt General Md Saiful Alam, General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Area Commander of Barishal area Major General Abdul Quyum Molla, among others, were present.
Later, the Army chief distributed blankets among 2,000 distressed and poor people and sports materials among students of five schools in different areas of the city as the chief guest. The Seven Padatik Division of BD Army organised the programme.
"BD Army is very determined to stand besides the country people especially distressed and poor during any disaster period," the chief guest said, adding that distribution of blankets will be continued during the winter season across the country.
Later, the Army chief visited free medical campaign, organised by Seven Padatik Division, aimed at to provide medical treatment among the distressed people.
Physicians of Army-- specially specialists physicians of Diabetics, High Blood Pressure, Skin disease, gynecology-- prescribed 1,179 poor and destitute people and given free medicines at Madaripur, Barishal and Khulna districts, reports BSS.
