Dhaka, 8 Dec - Shuttlers Rahat Ul Nayeem and Mizanoor Rahman pair of Bangladesh reached men's doubles pre quarterfinals event of the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Int'l Challenge now being held at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium adjoining the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
On the second day Thursday of the five-day meet, the Bangladeshi pair Rahat-Mizanoor eliminated their Thailand rivals Kanjanakeereewong Vichayapong and Laotherdpong Narueset by 21-18, 21-17 in the round of 32 match.
While Nazmul Islam and Nishan Uddin of Bangladesh also confirmed the round of sixteen spot beating their Indian pair Umang Kaushik and Bhawesh Pandey by 21-16, 21-19 points in the round of 32 matches.
Besides, Bangladeshi pair Abdul Hamid Lukman and Gourav Singha ensured the place of pre quarter final defeating their Indian pair Shubham Bhatt and Sumit Sharma by 21-10-, 21-19 in the round of 32 matches.
The prize money of U$$ 15,000 (fifteen thousand) of the senior division tournament will conclude on Sunday (Dec. 11).
A total of 251 -- 143 of men's and 108 of women's -- players from seventeen countries across the globe are taking part in the Int'l meet.
After the senior division, Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Junior Int'l Series will be held from December 12-15 at the same venue with 72 players from four countries will compete in the meet.
Prize money of U$$ 5,000 (five thousand) will be given in the junior division tournament.
The participating countries of the tournament are India, Thailand, Turkey, Myanmar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Canada, Mongolia, Indonesia, Bahrain, Japan, the Maldives, Iran, Germany, Philippine, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and host Bangladesh.
