
Youth Injured in Kalapara BCG beating is critical in hospital.
Kalapara (Patuakhali): A youth injured in Kalapara beating by Coast Guard members in Patuakhali, Md. Shamim Fakir (28), has been admitted to the hospital for treatment in critical condition. After the incident took place at around 10:30 pm on Thursday (April 23), he was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex at around 2:15 am. His home is in Akkelpur village of Nilganj union of the upazila. He is known to be the son of Roni Fakir of that village.
The injured Shamim Fakir said that he and his younger brother went to visit the Hajipur bridge built on the Sonatala river. At that time, three members of the Coast Guard in white clothes approached him, asked him various questions and took him to the Nizampur Coast Guard office. There, he was beaten up on the pretext of spying on the shrimp farm. He was even kicked in the testicles. Shamim Fakir mentioned that in addition to inhuman torture, he was given electric shocks by tying his hands and feet.
