With Switzerland's support, the UNDP and UNESCO have conducted an assessment of Bangladesh's media landscape, stressing that a free, safe, independent, and pluralistic media is fundamental to any democratic society.

The assessment report was presented at an event in Dhaka on Thursday.

Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuj Alam attended the event as the chief guest, reports UNB.

While speaking at the event, Alberto Giovanetti, Counsellor and Head of Political, Economic and Communication Affairs of the Embassy of Switzerland, said Switzerland is very pleased to have supported this important undertaking, which reflects our shared commitments to promoting media freedom, civic space and democratic governance in Bangladesh.”
