A high-level delegation from the Maldives is set to visit Dhaka to take part in the South Asian Regional Higher Education Conference, scheduled to be held from 12 to 15 January at a city hotel.

The delegation will be led by Fathimath Mohamed, State Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, underscoring the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening regional cooperation in higher education, skills development, and academic exchange.

Ahead of the visit, members of the Maldivian delegation paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, Dr Md Nazmul Islam.

During the meeting, Dr Islam highlighted educational diplomacy as a key pillar of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives. He noted that expanding academic collaboration, student exchanges, and institutional partnerships could play a vital role in deepening long-term people-to-people ties and promoting shared development goals across South Asia.
