France Pledges Ongoing Support for Health Research in Bangladesh

France has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting research initiatives that strengthen public health actions for vulnerable communities in Bangladesh.

The Embassy of France in Dhaka made the pledge while commending the success of the “Heatmind for Women” project, a collaboration between SAJIDA Foundation, the French Institute of Research and Development (IRD), and BRAC University under the Team France Fund (FEF).

The one-year pilot project examined the impact of extreme heat on women’s mental health in vulnerable communities in Satkhira and Gazipur, producing insights to guide future public health interventions.

A French Embassy delegation, led by Deputy Head of Mission Frédéric Inza and Cultural Attaché Baptiste Lebret, attended a debriefing session on the project’s findings, which highlighted positive results in understanding and mitigating climate-induced mental health challenges.

France emphasized that it will continue supporting research that informs evidence-based policymaking and enhances public health measures, particularly for marginalized populations.
