Army makes winning start in women's football league

Dhaka, 27 April-Bangladesh Army Sporting Club Limited beat Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan CSC by 1-0 goal in the lone opening match of the UCB Women's Football League held at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city's Kamalapur on Saturday.

In the day's match, Mosammat Sultana scored the all-important goal for Bangladesh Army in the 38th minute of the match.

Earlier, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin formally inaugurated the league as the chief guest.

ACF Council member, and BFF member and committee for women's football chairperson Mahfuza Akter Kiron, BFF members Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Md. Nurul Islam, Tipu Sultan and Md Elias Hossain, UCE Bank Limited first assistant vice president brand marketing and corporate affairs division Md Saiful Islam Khan and BFF general secretary Imran Hossain Tushar, among others, were also present on the occasion. 

A total of nine teams -- Ataur Rahaman Bhuiyan CSC, Uttara Football Club Ltd, Siraj Srity Songsad, Nasrin Sports Academy , Suddopuskorini JSC, Jamalpur Kacharipara Ekadash, Dhaka Rangers FC, Farashganj Sporting Club and Bangladesh Army SC Ltd - are participating in the meet, powered by Upay and organised by BFF.
