Sylhet, July 14 - The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Sylhet has issued show-cause notices to four teachers assigned to review the Physics question paper (1st Paper) of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) after serious errors and inconsistencies were found during the examination.
Controller of Examinations Prof Bilkis Yasmin on Tuesday issued the show-cause notices against Prof Md Mujibur Rahman of the Department of Physics at Sreemangal Government College, Assistant Professor Kazi Junayed Al Amin of Brindaban Government College, Assistant Professor Mosaddek Hossain Khan of MC College and Lecturer Mohammad Helal Uddin of Sylhet Government Model School and College.
According to the notices, significant errors were detected in questions No. 6 and 7 of the creative section of the Physics 1st Paper, based on the 2026 syllabus, during the examination held on Monday.
The board said the mistakes caused considerable mental stress for examinees in the examination halls.
Describing the incident as a serious lapse, the board said allowing such errors to remain in the final question paper reflected gross negligence and professional misconduct on the part of those responsible for reviewing it, and tarnished the image of the education board.
The four teachers were asked to explain in writing within three working days why departmental action should not be taken against them for the serious irregularities in the question paper review process. - UNB
