Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal today said the 12th general election will be held in a free, fair and credible manner.

The CEC was talking to journalists after a meeting with US ambassador Peter D Haas at the latter's office at Nirbachan Bhaban in city's Agargaon area, reports BSS.

Replying to a query he said the US ambassador really didn't say anything about the election. "He wanted to know how I am feeling. I told him that the election process in Bangladesh is not as smooth like USA as astray violence occurred here during the election," he said.

The CEC, however, hoped that necessary cooperation from all government agencies would be provided to make the election successful.

CCTV cameras will be installed at polling centers if required to monitor the voting activities smoothly, he added.
