62,721 Yaba tablets seized in Ctg Range, 237 arrested

Police have seized huge quantity of narcotics including 62,721 pieces of contraband yaba tablets in the last 24 hours in a special anti-narcotics operation in 11 districts of Chattogram Range.
During the drive, 237 people have been arrested on drug-related charges. Chattogram Range Police announced the 24-hour results of the operation on Sunday (August 23). Range DIG Abdul Quddus Chowdhury said that besides yaba, 24 kg 942 grams of marijuana, 57 liters of liquor, 8 bottles of schoff syrup and 12 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered. Taka 4,200 worth of drug sales were also recovered.
Among the arrested, 85 are drug dealers, two are transporters and 150 are drug addicts.
A total of 65 cases have been filed in this incident. Besides, 108 people have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment through mobile courts and a fine of Tk 36,900 has been collected from them, reports BSS.
