15-km traffic jam on Dhaka-Tangail Highway

15-kilometre traffic jam from Bangabandhu Bridge to Elanga of Kalihati.



Pressure of huge number of vehicles carrying Eid holidaymakers has increased on the country’s highways including the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu bridge Highway. Thousands of vehicles have remained stuck on the highway due to long tailbacks, causing sufferings to Eid holidaymakers.
The highway is witnessing a 15-kilometre traffic jam from Bangabandhu Bridge to Elanga of Kalihati.
Traffic Police Inspector Eshrajul Haq said the traffic congestion on the highway has increased. Hundreds of vehicles with passengers are moving very slowly. A bus of Shymoli Paribahan fell into an accident, and the bus has been removed.
They also said law enforcers along with the highway police are trying to ensure the movement of people smoothly.
