14-year-old boy dies as electricity pole falls on him



Dhaka, Apr 16 - A 14-year-old school student died after an electric pole fell on his head in the Raisbagh area of Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat on Tuesday.


The deceased, Al-Amin Islam, was a class 10 student at Raisbagh Haridas High School.

Mahmud-un-Nabi, officer-in-charge of Aditmari Police Station, confirmed the matter.


According to locals and police, Al-Amin went to work with his mother on the corn field next to the house. While going to drink water from a nearby tube well, he slipped and hit the pole, resulting in the pole falling on his head and killing him on the spot.


Humayun Kabir, chairman of the Sarpukur Union, said the electric poles are eight to nine years old. These have become dangerous due to lack of care.


The body was handed over to the family as there was no complaint from them, said the OC.-UNB
