Measles Death Toll Hits 835 As Five More Children Die

Five more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am on Thursday (30 July), raising Bangladesh's combined measles-related death toll to 835, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest DGHS update shows that suspected measles deaths have risen to 739, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths stand at 96.
Another 870 suspected measles cases were reported during the 24-hour period, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 127,410.
Meanwhile, 135 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 15,878.
Since 15 March, a total of 110,182 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, according to DGHS data.
Of them, 106,053 patients have recovered.
