Three children died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours ending at 8am on Sunday, raising the nationwide death toll to 588, according to the latest data released by health authorities.

During the same period, 1,134 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country with symptoms resembling measles. Of those cases, 45 were confirmed through laboratory testing.

So far this year, at least 90 children have died from confirmed measles infections, while another 498 deaths have been recorded among children showing symptoms consistent with the disease.

Health data show that between 15 March and 1 June, a total of 9,094 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory tests nationwide.

According to the latest health bulletin, 72,070 suspected measles cases have been identified across the country. Among them, 53,722 patients have already recovered and been discharged after treatment.

Health officials continue to monitor the outbreak as hospitals nationwide face growing pressure from the rising number of patients.
