Disaster Management and Relief Ministry will be made smart

Patuakhali: State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md. Mohibbur Rahman MP said, 'I lost my brother and sister in the terrible flood of 1965. I lost my house. I have started working since Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina gave me the responsibility of this ministry as a disaster prone area. I want to organize this ministry in such a way that it becomes a smart ministry of Bangladesh. In next year's budget, proper allocation will be made for the construction of cyclone shelters according to the demand in the disaster prone areas of the country.'- The state minister said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the function of CPP volunteers motivational convention 2024 organized by the CPP, Ministry of Disaster and Relief at Kuakata Rakhine Mahila Market ground today (February 20) at 5 pm. .

Kalapara UNO Md. Jahangir Hossain presided over the chief guest's speech, the state minister further said, 'I have already instructed my ministry to involve all the Mujib Kellas in the country with education. So that every mujib killa is always in use. On behalf of the Prime Minister, I promise you that in the coming days you will be involved in the distribution of relief to the people affected by the disaster. All those volunteers who are helpless, distressed will be brought under the consolation of Eid, Qorbani. Besides, we are thinking about increasing the amount of assistance to deceased volunteers and sick convalescents.'

Director General of Disaster and Relief Directorate Md. Mizanur Rahman, Additional Secretary of Disaster and Relief Ministry Rabiul Islam, Deputy Secretary Farooq Hossain, Deputy Country Director of CARE Bangladesh Mr. Ramdas, Secretary General of CPP Kazi Shafiqul Azam, Country director of IOM Mr. Abdus Sattar Isoev, Executive Director of Jago Nari Foundation Hosneyara Hasi, Additional Secretary of Disaster Ministry Rabiul Islam NDC, District Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha Kazi Alamgir Hossain spoke on the occasion. CPP Director Administration Md. Ahmedul Haque gave a welcome speech on the occasion.

Prior to this, financial incentives were given to 9 sick volunteers. And life-saving buoys were distributed to 10,000 fishermen. Later, a field exercise was organized by CPP volunteers and cultural program was performed with the participation of Rakhine artists. - Gofran Biswas Palash
