Three madrasa students killed in Narsingdi lightning strike

Three madrasa students were killed and another injured after a lightning strike hit them while they were performing ablution before Maghrib prayers at a madrasa in Monohardi upazila on Sunday evening.


The incident occurred at Pachkandi Madinatul Ulum Madrasa.

The deceased were identified as Jahirul Haque, 15, Abu Raihan, 14 and Abu Jafar, 15, all residents of Hossainpur upazila in Kishoreganj district.

Monohardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Badsha said four students were struck by lightning while performing ablution on the madrasa premises. They were rescued and rushed to Shibpur Upazila Health Complex, reports BSS.

Doctors at the hospital declared three of the students dead on arrival. The fourth student remains under treatment, he said.

Dr Mohammad Mostanshir Billah said the victims were brought to the health complex shortly after the incident, where three were found dead upon arrival.

Police confirmed the incident and said further details were being gathered.
