Bangladesh's interim government is open to considering the possibility of mediating between India and Pakistan if asked, amid rising tensions over a recent terrorist attack in India-administered Kashmir, Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain said on Sunday.

However, Hossain emphasized that the government would not take any proactive steps without receiving an official request. Addressing the media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he clarified that the government’s stance remains focused on maintaining peace in South Asia.

“The government strongly advocates for dialogue between India and Pakistan and opposes the prospect of conflict,” Hossain remarked, reinforcing Bangladesh’s commitment to regional stability.

He also reassured that any potential conflict would not directly affect Bangladesh. "If trade is disrupted, the government will take necessary measures to safeguard the economy," he added.
