PM Tarique Rahman to address UNGA for first time on Sept 24

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to make his first address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 24 as he travels to New York on September 21 for the 81st session of the UNGA, with a packed schedule of high-level meetings and diplomatic engagements.

The Prime Minister, who will be accompanied by a relatively small delegation, will stay in New York until September 25 and is expected to use the visit to outline Bangladesh's vision for the future and articulate its priorities before world leaders.

"I believe this visit will create a significant opportunity to showcase the new journey of Bangladesh's new government on the global stage, while also expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation," Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam told reporters at a media briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Through this, he said, they aim to convey to the world the message of a democratic, self-confident, responsible, peace-loving, and promising Bangladesh. -UNB
