National Committee on LDC Graduation discusses challenges, opportunities

The ninth meeting of the National Committee on LDC Graduation held today at the Prime Minister's Office with Prime Minister's Principal Secretary M Tofazzel Hossain Miah in the chair.

 In the meeting, different sub-committees presented their reports regarding the post graduation period of Bangladesh including opportunities, challenges and work-list as a developing nation, reports BSS

 Speaking at the meeting, Tofazzel Hossain Miah said that the government is working with the private sectors for quick preparation of Bangladesh.

 The United Nations Committee for Development Policy (CDP) is also supporting the government for the post graduation of Bangladesh, he said, adding that they are also taking support from both local and foreign think-tanks.

 The Principal Secretary also laid emphasis on different issues including tariff rationalization, customs duty, VAT and tax to ease business atmosphere and boost employment opportunities. 

To this end, the committee has been working to overcome the challenges including logistic improvement, market diversification and product diversification, he added.
