Farmer hacked to death in Narail over drug-use dispute
A farmer was hacked to death and another man was injured on Saturday night allegedly by a youth following a dispute over drug use in Kalia upazila of Narail.
The deceased was identified as Mansur Molla, 45, son of Habi Molla of Kodomtola village.
The suspect, Hasib Molla,20, son of Lipton Molla of the same village, fled the scene after the incident.
According to family members and locals, Hasib had an altercation with Kased Mollah, member from ward No. 4 of Peroli Union Parishad, after Kased forbade him to take drugs. During the argument, Hasib allegedly assaulted the UP member.
Around 10:00pm on Saturday, Hasib went to a shop at Kodomtola Tri-Mohona. Kased’s cousins Mansur and Nur Islam approached him and asked why he had assaulted Kased.
At one stage, Hasib allegedly pulled out a sharp weapon and attacked both of them indiscriminately.
Mansur sustained severe injuries and died while being sent to Khulna for treatment. Nur Islam received primary treatment.
Kalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Idris Ali said police visited the scene and efforts were ongoing to arrest the suspect, reports UNB.
He said the body was sent to Narail District Hospital for an autopsy.
